Preventive dental check-ups in schools

Dental check-ups are carried out in all schools.

The examination takes place once a school year in all schools. The aim of the examination is the early detection of tooth decay, gum disease and dental anomalies. Participation in the examination is compulsory for all pupils. Parents/guardians are informed in writing about the results of the examination.

In connection with the examination, children up to the 6th school year are offered a free fluoride touch-up as part of group prophylaxis with the consent of their parents/guardians.

All personal details are subject to the rules of medical confidentiality and the Data Protection Act.

Regardless of the examination at school, a check-up at the family dentist is recommended twice a year. Children and young people aged 6-18 can take advantage of free preventive services (individual prophylaxis) there.
