Public facilities

Public facilities (e.g. daycare centers, schools or retirement and nursing homes) are monitored by the public health department in terms of infection hygiene and advised on hygiene issues.

Monitoring is carried out on the legal basis of Section 33 of the Infection Protection Act, Section 36 of the Infection Protection Act and Section 6 of the Ordinance on the Public Health Service and the Tasks of the Health Authorities in the Districts and Cities.

The following facilities are subject to infection hygiene monitoring by the public health department:

  • Community facilities such as daycare centers, schools and after-school care centers as well as other educational institutions
  • Child and youth welfare facilities
  • Child day care facilities (childminders)
  • children's playgrounds
  • Publicly accessible sports facilities
  • Swimming pools and bathing areas
  • old people's and nursing homes
  • outpatient care services
  • full and partial inpatient facilities for the care and accommodation of elderly, disabled or dependent people
  • rescue services
  • blood donation
  • Tattoo studios
  • Homeless shelters
  • Shared accommodation for asylum seekers/refugees
  • Accommodation facilities (school hostels, hotels), camping and tent camp sites

During theinspections , the facility's hygiene regime, including the facility-specific hygiene plan and the cleaning and disinfection plan , is reviewed.
