Daycare examination
In brief
At preschool age, all children are offered a examination at the daycare center or at the child and youth medical service.
Details
This check-up is a preventive offer for children 2 years before they start school and is usually carried out at the daycare center.
It serves as a supplement to the preventive check-up by a pediatrician. The examination focuses on your child's development, also with regard to the imminent start of school.
For this voluntary examination, we require the written consent of at least one parent or guardian at the daycare center or you can make an appointment directly with the health department.
Examination procedure
- Examination of the sensory organs (sight and hearing)
- Measurement of height and body weight
- a physical examination
- Assessment of body motor skills
- assessment of speech
You will be informed of the results of the examination in writing when it is carried out at the daycare center.
All data collected is of course subject to medical confidentiality and data protection.
Procedure/deadlines
At the daycare center
If the examination takes place at your child's daycare center, an appointment will be made in advance with the daycare center management.
If you as a parent would like to take advantage of this offer for your child, please ask your daycare center management how you can register your child.
It is not necessary for a parent or guardian to be present for the examination if the completed questionnaire has been submitted, but this is possible on request.
At the health department
For children who are not at the daycare center on the day of the examination or whose parents have not received an offer at the daycare center, please make an appointment directly with the child and youth medical service.
